Both CheckSUR and SFC logs are clear - but there are some background errors in the CBS log.

Please upload your C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file - hopefully it will have some more detail on that

Sorry about the lack of response!
Yes I got the file, and it is the one I wanted, but I'm afraid that my skills in reading I are fairly limited.
Here's one of the error sets....

As you can see, there's not a lot of detail to go on :(

Since this appears to happen with a number of the updates, it may be worth clearing the SoftwareDistribution folder...

This could be due to corruption in the SoftwareDistribution folder - the problem with that the conventional cure can lead to problems later on, if not handled properly, and you will lose your Update history (but the updates will still be installed, and viewable in the Installed Updates listing).

Open an Elevated Command Prompt
Run the following commands

NET STOP WUAUSERV
REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD
NET START WUAUSERV

wait 15 minutes, and reboot
then wait 10 minutes, and open Windows Updates, and run a Check for Updates.

Install only the oldest update found - and reboot once installed
then go back to Windows updates and install the others.
