I just don't understand it. No matter what I do, I cannot get my headset's mic to work while playing online games or making phone calls. It'll work just fine if I wanted to record my voice with Windows 7's Sound Recorder.

The headset has two connectors: one is green (for sound playback) and the other is pink (for sound recording), however, if I were to plug the pink connector into the pink slot on my sound card, then it wouldn't work at all. I wouldn't be able to record anything with Windows 7's Sound Recorder. If I plugged the pink connector into the blue slot, then I am able to record audio but I am still unable to talk to anybody while playing online games or making phone calls.

I have tried every slot on my sound card, checked and rechecked sound settings, updated my sound card drivers, etc. Nothing works....

A quick search confirmed my suspicions! I thought I seen or read of similar issues with the SB Audigy SE… It’s a common issue! To fix you have 2 things to check…

It is suggested to run the soundcard driver installation once again using the bundled cd and selecting repair to ensure that the installation is now complete and proper. KEY: Also check that the soundcard has been selected as the default device for recording:

Select Control Panel, then Sounds and Audio Devices, then Select the Audio Tab and ensure that the Sound Blaster card has been selected as the default device for Sound Playback and Sound Recording

I have done all that countless times except using the bundled CD because I threw that away long ago. BTW, I got it working now!!!! I went into my system BIOS > Advanced > Onboard Devices Config > LAN Boot ROM [Enabled]. It was the only device disabled under that tab at the time. It doesn't have anything to w/ onboard audio, however, for some reason my mic worked after enabling it. It doesn't make any sense, lol.

There is no option for onboard sound. I looked and looked; it isn't there. Well, I'm just glad it's working now.
