There should be a trial version of all of the CS4 Suite on Adobe's website. I think it is for 30 days.

I thought that Adobe was delighted to sell that software at $699.00. I'm unaware of any $495 version.Adobe will be delighted to sell you a copy for $495.00 ...
Adobe products are very expensive. My suggestion is to look at alternatives like Paint.Net, Paint Shop Pro or The Gimp and see if they meet your needs. If at the end of the day, they do not...perhaps spending $500-$700 with Adobe really is the best choice.
