I need to change the name of my system

Hello I recently purchased a new computer and my son registered it or did something under my name after building it. I tried changing the username and the computer name but it still shows files with my name attached to them. Call me over protective but I was taught when I first started using computers that you should not have your name attached to them. I don't want someone hacking into my computer and knowing anything about me. It pains me to see my name right in front of my face knowing someone could use it in some way.

When I search my name in the search box it brings up a folder with a Lock on it. Inside the folder is a group of folders. These folders say things such as contacts, desktop, downloads, favorites, links, my documents, my music, my pictures, my videos, saved games, searches. I would love it if someone could help me so I can change my name on here. It doesn't bother me if it says Carl T. But the fact that it has my last name is what really bothers me. I would hate to have to reinstall the whole system just to make this one thing change but if its what I have to do. Thank you so much for your time. I rather appreciate it.
Carl

Hello Carllll, welcome to Seven Forums!

You will not be able to completely/successfully change the (default) username that was used to install Windows with, you would have to do a complete reinstall to remove your name, there are ways to make it 'look' like the name is different but deep-down it will always be the name used during the initial installation.

How about making a new Admin user account. Log on to that account and delete the other Admin user account that has your name tied to it.
But first make sure you save all your important files to a external drive or a networked PC before you delete that other account.

As far as computer name that is easy to change.

My account has my name, but just my first name.
