I need to double-click on almost everything

For some reason I now keep needing to double-click on everything - in order to execute a single-click.

Any thoughts?

Have you tried a different mouse?

P.S. It's extremely odd. Sometime a single click will work. But mostly it definitely will NOT work. This problems seems to apply to almost everything, including opening and closing windows, Clicking a submit button within a web browser etc etc.

Take a gander at tools/folder options in Explorer. There are a couple of settings there that may have gone haywire.


Consider system restore, particularly if it is a very recent development.

I have now discovered that my Microsoft Mouse (model: IntelliMouse Explorer 4.0A - USB) also had some special software installed for it (called "Intellipoint 8.0" I think although I have no easy way of knowing the version number - thanks Microsoft) which I uninstalled and then re-installed.

And the problem seems to have gone away - for now at least.
