I right click on a file, and all close down?

I right click on a file, ore a document in a folder, - to rename it, - and it all close down, the document, the folder, - and I don't remember all key short cuts, but wonder what has gone "wrong".

This is a brand new installation, and I have done as I use to do, - I think but I need help to get back on track to use right click on everything, - if you please

Usually problems with right click are due to Explorer Shell Extensions. Unfortunately the way to find the culprit is to use ShellExView to disable each until the symptom disappears. Unless perhaps the problem popped up right after an update. In that case using a Restore Point may fix it.

Could you be specific? The suggestions were to use ShellExView to winnow out the bad shell extension, or to use a Restore Point. Which did you try?

I can not use a restore point, as this is a new installation, regarding the use of ShellExView to winnow out the bad shell extension, - I tried quit a few, but found that I did not know what I was doing, and wore afraid that I destroyed the computer if I continued.
