Solved I want control of my computer again.

(I am a administrator.) I have updated my computer from windows 7 home premium to windows 7 ultimate. Before I did the update I had no problem deleting any files or anything. Now that I have updated. It says I have no access to anything. I mean I can delete some files. But when I do scans with programs to delete stuff it will not let me now. I want my access back. I do not want to have to go through every file I want access to and edit the security options so I can.



I right clicked on the one that is circled. I went into security and made it so My name had full access. But it said that system files and system files x64 would not permit me permission.

Here are all the things it denied. I want to have my access back.

Did you upgrade the operating system? If so, you used the same name as before upgrading for the user account?

You'll need to take ownership of those files/folders (which should have been done already, not sure why it wasn't)...

Try these steps on the whole C drive instead of one folder at a time, It might save you some time, also make sure hidden folders are showing:

1. Locate the file or folder on which you want to take ownership in windows explorer
2. Right click on file or folder and select “Properties” from Context Menu
3. Click on Security tab
4. Click on “Advance”
5. Now click on Owner tab in Advance Security Settings for User windows
6. Click on Edit Button and select user from given Change Owner to list if user or group is not in given list then click on other users or groups. Enter name of user/group and click ok.
7. Now select User/group and click apply and ok. (Check “Replace owner on sub containers and objects” if you have files and folder within selected folder)
8. Click ok when Windows Security Prompt is displayed
9. Now Owner name must have changed.
10. Now click Ok to exist from Properties windows
Once you have taken the ownership of file or folder next part comes is Granting Permissions to that file/folder or object.

6. Click Ok for changes to take effect and click ok final ok to exit from Properties window.
Now you can access files of folder in windows 7 with full permissions and take full control.
