I Want to Keep Windows 7 Forever

Thank you, I now have that fix printed out for the next time I have to install a PC with Windows 10 HOME on it.

I'm going to practice that fix, on a spare HD that I have here.

Happy New Year Mates!
Update:
I just tried the install of Windows 10 Home, with the LAN cable connected. The Hint from Bree worked great. Thank you sir!

Then I did the install again, with the LAN cable UN-Plugged and that too worked great.

I only wish I had known this two weeks ago, when I had to unbox and set up a brand new HP desktop, which came with Windows 10 Home on it.
After much cussing and complaining, I finally got the new PC set up, but the owner has to use a Pin Number every time he logs on. Needless to say, He's not real happy with his new PC with Win-10 Home on it.

So I'm sitting here in front of my main PC "Master PC" Everything on my network is a slave under this as all 6 HDDs hold all the shares for the network.. 5 TB in total and each of the 5 remaining data drives have there own drive sitting on the shelf waiting for backup. Anyway enough boasting of my network. I'm getting ready to run a system backup with EaseUS Todo back.. I got myself the technician version with so much more control so why not right?? So I'm getting read for the backup and there it is..... My Windows 7 system backup... Should I be a hypocrite and keep that backup? Remember what I said?

I upgraded all 5 of my systems to Win 10. I have Sledgehammer run on startup. I use Winaero Tweaker to tame the beast. Like all the past OS's I walk away and step into the future and leave to past behind. Time to get over it people.

I won't lose anything buy deleting it. The upgrade to windows 10 saved everything.. Should I delete it or "Walk away and step into the future and leave to past behind"??????????

What does wubba lubba dub dub mean?
Wubba lubba dub dub is a nonsense catchphrase from with the adult cartoon Rick and Morty that has inspired memes, attempts at silly definitions, and some self-importance from fans of the show who think they are smarter than they actually are.

I take no offence. I find it funny. I'v been around computers for 30 years... And you?

I've always looked at every MS OS from the viewpoint of a technician that would have to work on it.
Simpler is betterer. ;)

Win-7 remains my all time favorite, and I'll still be running it the day I'm called Home.

I see no problem with re-installing Win-7 from a Flash Drive, should that ever become necessary.
Installation from a FD, does not depend in any way on MS Support.

According to Bird Man from the show on Cartoon Network's [adult swim], Rick's catchphrase means I'm in great pain.

First, "offence" is spelled offense. And "I'v" has an e at the end of it. Second, I'm the mastery of all things aeronautics, radio communications, electronics, computers, and networking. How long? Since the Pleistocene epoch when man first controlled fire to move forward to where that work in is now used for power plants, planes, trains, automobiles, and rockets including putting man on the moon in the Sea of Tranquility among the nomenclature mare's on this Earth's (called dirt) sole satellite.

I am also an inventor, curios reader of the mass to energy equivalence, antiquity and all forms of science. In a nutshell, I'm a Renaissance man and I can art, brah.

Did I mention I have three websites that are probably as secure as the Visa American multinational financial services corporation?

Am I smart? No, I'm still learning and achieving...

If you'd like to meet up you can fly from RLG at a heading of 053 then intercept the 315 DVV radial. When you see the orangish color of a surface to air missile you'll know your in the right spot. And when in doubt, 0 then 1.

Yes I read your post and you made some valid points. The fact is that all of us have to educate ourselves! I don't advocate Windows 10. But the fact is that Windows 7 like all its predecessors are at the end of there life. So if you want to leave Windows all the power to ya! But Windows 10 can be tamed. Do your research and learn how. I tamed my Win 10 beast through research.. You can too. The two app I posted are very good. But you need to dig deep in to the OS in ways I will not post here.

See the bad part of research is guys like you who say "you need to dig deep in to the OS in ways I will not post here." Is you wont post them! haha I don't know maybe you did. If you did would you be so kind and send me a link? While I feel the way i do the ability to tame the beast might be nice to have one day. While i will still find a way to avoid 10 there may be a day i will have to use it just to run one dumb program. Honestly no matter how tame it is i simply don't like the layout and have a hard time getting around. since windows 2000 when i first started learning the very basics i have never felt so lost till windows 10. I can navigate a few linux flavors easier and i have only tried linux for maybe 3 days many years ago. Yea i found a few of them linux guys with a bad attitude and told myself i will stay on windows 7. This was shortly after windows 7 came out. I only tried linux in hopes i would have less virus issues. as it turns out i ended up changing browsers found better antivirus and learned i could see the web address before clicking and then noticed web address that looked like this "www.dskfjdfjkgdkfjdkfjkd" was not safe haha Even if the preview showed word for word what i had searched. It was amazing searching truck stuff would show so many results like that.

So I'm sitting here in front of my main PC "Master PC" Everything on my network is a slave under this as all 6 HDDs hold all the shares for the network.. 5 TB in total and each of the 5 remaining data drives have there own drive sitting on the shelf waiting for backup. Ohh now here you are trying to poke a bear. haha To funny not to laugh. You would probably cringe when i tell you many years ago i traded in a 9 month old pickup for a 12 year old pickup that now has nearly 600,000 miles on it? I'd say i did pretty well since the newer pickup i traded in normally loses engines around 150,000 miles and i have 600,000 on mine. Sure it needed a head gasket around 400,000 miles but it produces more power and is getting better mileage still to this day. Not only that it regularly tows over 20,000lbs 400 miles from home. I guess i put some injectors in it once and a couple clutch's but i still think i did alright.

PS you can also look into the future and possibly see a reason you would need that old copy of windows 7. See i can make a bad joke to haha :party: Clearly you are in love with windows 7 and did not mean all of what you said otherwise you would have deleted it right after the upgrade and wouldn't still belong to a windows 7 forum NEARLY 5 YEARS LATER!! Ahhhaa BUSTED!!!:cool: :roflmao:

Linux is not so bad. It's a bear for Windows users, especially power users, to get a handle on because Linux is not only not Windows, it is nothing like it under the hood even though the GUI of some distros is similar to Win 7. I've been using Linux Mint Cinnamon 19.2 for only a few days now and, while I'm still struggling with it (big time!), I'm already liking it better than Windows. I'm using it pretty much full time now. It takes a while to figure out how to do certain things along the way but it's all a prt of the learning curve and worth the time spent to be able to fully divorce myself from MS.

To be successful with Linux, one has to keep in mind that, as I already mentioned, Linux is NOT Windows. You have to pretty much forget everything you learned about Windows. As fas as the learning curve goes, how long did it take for you learn as much about Windows as you know now? Besides taking a while (years even), you probably didn't have to unlearn anything; you probably grew up with it.

Once you accept that Linux is not Windows, the going gets a lot easier. One piece of advice I read is not to dive into it cold turkey. Instead, use an older or otherwise inexpensive machine to install it on so you can use your Windows machine to go online to get some help.

You also have to accept that getting the results you need will mean adopting different workflows using different programs than you are used to doing. So far, I've managed to find replacements for all my Windows programs (or find ways to accomplish the same things I used to do only doing it differently) except for a professional music engraving program I haven't used in 12 years and support programs for my Logitech wireless mice and my keyboards with 54 macro keys (the former I can workaround using an old Win 7 machine I'll keep around for a while but they will eventually need replacing; the keyboards are probably a lost cause and I'm already working on a way to replace the macro keys).

Not all hardware will be compatible with Linux. So what? Not all hardware is compatible with Mac, either. Try installing Windows on a Mac machine. What's compatible with one OS may not be compatible with another so build a bridge and get over it. I haven't tried to get my old Samsung printer to work on my Linux machine yet but I'm fully prepared to replace it if need be (it's a POS anyway).

A guy named Joe Collins has made numerous, easy to follow Youtube videos on how to set up and use Linux. He also has a forum for Linux support (EzeeTalk) where the members there have been very helpful to me. You rarely get the snobbishness there that some other Linux forums have as long as you are respectful and don't start saying things like Linux is a load of crap for whatever reason just because you ran into a problem.

As to why I'm still here even though I'm quickly leaving the Windows world? I've been here a long time. I have online friends here. I've received a lot of help ftom people here and it's only fair that I try to give back whenever I can, even if only to now show people there is a practical option to staying with Windows as MS continues to take it in a direction many of us feel is unacceptable.

You know I had to put my sunglasses on to read your post! Only for the simple reality that your immensely large and incredible and astronomical and also universal Intellect is blinding my eyes! But I didn't.. only for the simple fact that your still learning and achieving... Just like the rest of us normal "plural noun" Humanbeings..

Sometimes I miss the earlier days of DOS 3.3-5.0, Lotus 123, dBASE II, Easy Writer II; Norton Utilities, NU.EXE. Once right after a accidental deletion, used NU.EXE to find the huge piece and the smaller piece of a mail merge (which my sister put together using macros) address database, cobbled it back it together, leaving me only around 40-50 addresses to re-type in. I think the only glitch was one address was repeated 20+- times, that person simply mailed back the extra copies. Returning to the present, I am keeping my Windows 7 Professional until one of these three croaks first: Windows 7 OS, or Acer Aspire 77xxx, or me.

I hope you didn't think i responded to you? I was directing all of that to my friend Lance1.

But being you did respond to me and maybe i am confused I thank you for being so helpful. I have found a few linux user's that are very helpful and i have been watching some of Joe Collins videos along with Chris Titus. Chris being a former windows power user and seems like he still working on them professionally. If he can do it my dumb *** can. They say the less of a power user the easier it is to switch. Well i am far from a power user. More like so dumb clown messing things up haha I have been playing i several different distros on virtual box for over a week now. Trying to narrow it down. I started in Mint cinnamon then tried mate which i thought i really liked till something went wrong and found cinnamon has more overall control and support. Then all the parts i disliked on cinnamon a guy on the mint forums helped me fix. I tried ChaletOS ZorinOS and Zorin education. I ended up putting Zorin education on a old laptop for the kids already. Hope you are reading this to Lance1?? I put zorin education in place of windows 10!! Even after fallowing a few de bloat and anti spy tutorials it was still a slow machine. Zorin education runs quick on it  See now i am poking the bear :roflmao: Clearly even Lance1 feels MS took a path unacceptable tho as he did lots of work digging deep into. We mite get him turned into a linux user? Look at me talking like i am a linux user already. I hope it works and very few rare things i need windows for. Pretty sure my old castle creations tuning program wont work on linux and wont work on windows 10 either. Only other thing i can think of that I use once in awhile is DBpoweramp. Which is windows only. I don't think there is a real linux replacement for DBpoweramp. So a good reason to keep good old windows 7 around. Lance1 over there must not play with cool things like i do haha

Hope everyone has a great day! I think we probably ruined this thread a bit tho or me. :o
