I Want to Keep Windows 7 Forever

One thing I absolutely loved about XP is that I can run it literally on 256 MB of RAM. LOL!

I have a project I may just do with a Windows XP laptop connected to multiple two-way radios via multiple USB sound cards in a good, reputable USB powered hub and I'll run multiple instances of a VOX sound recorder. The sound recorder I use now was meant for XP and doesn't work all that well with its features in Win 7. Unless I can find a decent comparable VOX sound recorder that'll take at least 10 inputs for Win 7.


I in fact run XP SP3 right now on a netbook that is on 24/7 in the kitchen connected to an external mouse/ small wireless keyboard and monitor I call it the Kitchen Kiosk. It serves as a local only FTP server who's storage is a SD card which allows me to transfer data from my phone using the AndFTP App and my computers or data from computer to computer without the need for a USB stick or USB external HDD.

Has this netbook been infected with malware or got haxxed? NOPE! And you know why? Because it's a fallacy you need updates and the latest and the greatest all the time so long as you surf the Internet with common sense, scan ALL downloads at VirusTotal, and use the now free Sandboxie for your browser.

I could run Windows 3.1 run now and use some proxy so that the ancient web browser in there will work with modern TLS encrypted sites. I more than likely want get malware either.

If you want to roll Linux, then at least have a look at Qubes and see what it offers, read the hardware requirements and enjoy a more secure/private OS.

I'm about to install 10 in VMware Workstation Player and monitor the virtual machine's NIC with a network packet sniffer to see just what connections 10 makes out to the Internet. It could even be at the kernel level and I'll capture it. This is a prelude to how I'm rolling 10 when the new Flight Simulator comes out. I'll be using a combination of Pfsense firewall in a nettop and a plunder bug inline with my computer and router to monitor what is going on behind the scenes and stop anything at the CIDR or ASN level if need be.

Xp is an ok OS a little primitive for my tastes but good for games that won't work on windows 7. And about those Crapintoshs... no way. not ever. the new CrapBooks just fall apart and the only reason you should buy one is if you like the OS (and even then...you would be better off to make a hackintosh (which is my current project-making a hackbook for testing purposes and hey if anyone knows where to get a MacOS ISO please post that here

But, have you tried doing a web search for it? (like Fox Mulder would say, "The Truth is out there".)

Im not so sure about that - my MacBook Air runs Windows absolutely flawlessly from Bootcamp.

This sounds more likely the way I will go by keeping my Windows 7.
I'm not sure about VMware nor dual booting into Linux.

I like the idea about Sandboxie and VirusTotal.

I was finally able to get it to set up with just his name and email address. Then it demanded we use either a password or pin number. What a P.O.S.!!!
So there is NO way he can just start up his personal PC without having to put in his PIN number.

If you're going to buy something that just falls apart to turn around and run windows on? My brother has had 3 mac books in the past 3-4 years. Do the math.

Sounds like fun! But I don't have no POS Microsoft Account, don't want one either. The less I have to do with MS, the better I like it.


I might not even run Windows, if it were not for the fact that all my 100+ customers use it.
So I have to keep up with all versions, from '98 on.

I've heard that before, but... As with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020 that I bought recently, they too require an "account" which is just an email address. For everything I use Abine Blur Premium and have custom emails for each and every online "account" that I need, including for example this very site. These custom emails forward from Blur to my true/real email, and if anyone is hacked or sells the email or whatever, I can simply turn them off and/or delete them.

no, not required but the option to set up W10 Home with an offline account is so well hidden in the OOBE that many will tell you it doesn't exist. It does, but you either have to disconnect from the internet before setting up, or jump through hoops to find it.

If Windows 10 Home, type the bogus phone number 1234567890 into the phone/email address field, click/tap on Next, click/tap on the Offline account link at the bottom left of the Confirm your phone number screen.

No such problem in setting up W10 Pro, the offline account option is there on the first screen for all to see.

Another company that does temporary email accounts is Guerrillamail. But I already have 6 email accounts. Oops, 5; one was hacked.

I just did the maths you suggested, and the answer is your brother doesn't know how to look after his PC hardware

For the record, Abine Blur's masked emails are neither temporary nor "false" (whatever that means). Instead I have a unique email address for every online site that I frequent.

And what I'm talking about with Abine Blur is that if any site where I have an account gets hacked i.e. their member emails stolen for spamming, I can just throw the one away, instead of having a zillion spams coming to an email I depend on and want to keep forever if possible.

They're neither temporary nor false. They're all in use for different purposes. I said I don't give out my name, physical address or phone #.
