I downloaded a zip file and as it usually does, a ".part" was created during the download. These are normally erased when the download completes. The download completed satisfactorily, but the ".part" icon remained on the desktop. I can't move it or delete it. The message says "This is no longer located in....." When I look at the desktop in Explorer, the file is no longer there either. Is there any way to get rid of the icon on the visible desktop?

Things to try.
1. Drag and drop to recycle bin.
2. Right click on it, delete
3. Right click on it, send to mail recipient, mail it to yourself and then delete the new mail.
4. Send to dvd,usb memory stick and then format to remove it.
You could also use a little program, (Search Everything) find it and remove it. With this program you must be careful what you are removing.

A strange thing happened...after 2 reboots, the icon disappeared...weird...but thanks for the Everything tip. It's a great little utility.
