ideas: Laptop to power on when there is power

Hey guys,
Im normally pretty tech savvy though i am stuck on a problem.

I often have my laptop plugged in to an inverter, plugged in to the car. I need it to power on by itself, when there is power from the inverter.

Any ideas?

Do you mean you need to power it on by pressing such a power button, maybe located in elsewhere on your laptop?

no, just when it has power from a 240v socket

Two things.
1. I know of no computer that uses 240 volts as in your post #3
2. I know of no way a computer can start itself from a cold boot.

What kind of car do you have that has 240v that you want to convert to proper computer volts?

1) Australian standard residential power supply is 240volts.
2) Hense my questions on this forum. "DOES ANY ONE HAVE ANY IDEAS..."
3) if you do not know what an "inverter" is (as stated in my first post), then you wouldnt be the right person to to help with this query

They are talking about the mains power Jack, 240V in AUS.

Here's an inverter that will go from 12V to 230V

What they are trying to do is have it power on as soon as it gets power instead of having to use the power button, an instant startup once it gets power.

Thanks derekimo for the information about the home voltages.
All the members we have from Australia you think I would of known that. Now I do.

I will wait for the answer for the Auto Push Power Button from a cold boot.

I like learning new things.

yea what I would do in this situation I would find a universal cig charger. the have built in inverter and won't put a strain on your cars charging system. then I would hard wire it to the the fuse box so it would take up the space of my cig charger

as stated above in the video you could wire the current inverter you have to a fuse on the cars electric system that's tied into the ignition or after the car is running. year make and model

You will only find the BIOS option to restart after power off in Desktop system BIOS. Laptops do not have that BIOS option.
