As many people heard recently there was a new exploit which targeted Internet Explorer and Adobe Flash Player, Microsoft put a rush on a new security update to fix the issue. I went to Automatic Updates and it wasn't on the list so I proceeded to download it manually. I installed the security update
IE11-Windows6.1-KB2964358-x86 for Win 7 Home Premium 32 bit with no problems. Once I restarted my computer I clicked to open the browser and instantly a message popped up to close the program. I closed IE and it automatically opened a new tab, once it opened a new tab another message opened telling me that the program is not working and it has to be closed. This happened in an endless loop until I shut down IE entirely. I uninstalled the security update and my IE is working once again.

Any suggestions?

Thank You

Additional info: As I am writing this I also realized that there is a counterpart to this update, IE11-Windows6.1-KB2964444-x86 which I haven't installed yet. Plus I also have a situation where all my old updates reappeared on the update list once I installed SP1.

I had the update in my Windows Updates. I installed it and no problems.

Sometimes there are other updates required before certain ones can be installed. Its best to wait for the update to show up in your Windows Updates rather than go after them manually.

I also have Firefox browser installed so I used that until the Microsoft I.E.11 fix showed up.
