Hay guys.

I have problems with IE11.
I had some virus on my PC, so I made cleanup … and registry cleanup.
But obviously something too much was deleted.

I have IE installed, but some pages reminds me that I do not have the latest IE installed. (even when I click the link, it redirect me to IE installer which is telling me that I have the tallest (ie11) installed).
Also when I’m in Gmail for instance, I do not have the latest “window in window” options for composing mails, etc.. So it also do not recognize that I actually have the IE11.

I have tried everything I founf on the web.
I uninstall IE11, I uninstall IE10 from windows update options (but you cannot fully uninstall IE or delete folders from Program files). I also try command prompt uninstall:
FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*11.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"
I tried various Win fixes, etc… but no success.

After all uninstall options I reinstall IE11 with success, but its not working like it should (be recognized by some pages or Gmail.)
I also reset all IE11 settings to default.

Is there any help??
Thnx.

PS
One thin I noticed. When going to developer mode (F12) I can select “Document mode” to “Edge” and “user agent string to IE10, then sites are displaying correctly. But I cannot make this settings permanent. When I gou out they change to “defult” values, for which I suggest they are wrong (IE8 and custom, etc…)

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here post #7,
Ignore the title of the thread,
http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/316404-instant-savings-app.html
Screen shot of the download button to use for Adwcleaner
You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
See this tutorial on how to download and run Malwarebytes,
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/338716-malwarebytes-anti-malware-free.html
Also use the Custom scan option not the Threat scan,

Please Do Not clean/ Delete or Remove Any detections before posting the scan results first before review especially Malwarebytes,
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
SAS is safe to remove anything it finds ;)

This one is the longest up to 4 hours, the others are only about 45 minutes,

Hay @trashzone.

maybe you did not understand my problem, or I was not clear enough.
I have solved the virus problem by wiping, etc.... But now I have problems with IE11 because obviously something was deleted. I made full cleaning including registry, etc...

Now I would just like to repair IE11.
And like I mentioned, how could I make F12 developer mode to remember the settings.

Cheers.

Hi,
Unless Enterprise mode will remember :/
Ctrl+P will unpin developer tools from the window but I don't believe the setting will stay after boot or even closing ie ?

There's always a repair install if you didn't have a system image to use ?
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

Manually deleting registry items is best left to specialized malware scanners ;)
Also if you have another machine the same bit as the other you can use it to recover or replace ie ?
Cheers.

Hay

None of the above helped. :(
I did try to reinstall windows before, but many programs did not work. Lucky I made image before I did that, so I recover whole disk.

I would replace the IE from another system, but I cannot delete the IE folder from Program files and Program files(x86) ??

As I see, I think there is a problem with IE, because it does not remember settings for »browser mode«. It keeps saying »unknown«. When I set to IE10/11, its OK, but is not remembering the settings.

Hi,
Like I said before Create a New Administrator user Account and test using it,
Personally that's the easiest way to Undo what's been done so far,
Cheers.

...after one week of struggling ... creating new Administrator account helped.
Although I have to install some new things and make few new settings, it was the best solution anyway.
Thnx!

Hi Ducy

I think you might find this helpful

Turn off Internet Explorer

As Internet Explorer is a Windows feature, you can't uninstall it, but you can turn it off. Here's how:
  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the bottom-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, then click Search.)
  2. Enter Windows features in the search box, tap or click Settings, then tap or click Turn Windows features on or off.
  3. In the Windows Features dialogue box, untick the Internet Explorer 11 checkbox.
The above taken from the Microsoft site;
Installing or uninstalling Internet Explorer - Windows Help

OR you could look at this, whichever suits your purpose;

Problems after installing Internet Explorer 11

After you install Internet Explorer 11 in your organization, you might run into the following issues. By following these suggestions, you should be able to fix them.
Internet Explorer is in an unusable state

If Internet Explorer 11 gets into an unusable state on an employee's computer, you can use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings (RIES) feature to restore the default settings for many of the browser features, including:
  • Search scopes
  • Appearance settings
  • Toolbars
  • ActiveX® controls (resets to the opt-in state, unless they're pre-approved)
  • Branding settings created with IEAK 11
RIES does not:
  • Clear the Favorites list, RSS feeds, or Web slices.
  • Reset connection or proxy settings.
  • Affect the applied Administrative Template Group Policy settings.
RIES turns off all custom toolbars, browser extensions, and customizations installed with Internet Explorer 11. If you change your mind, you can turn each of the customizations back on through the Manage Add-ons dialog box. For more information about resetting Internet Explorer settings, see How to Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

Internet Explorer is crashing or seems slow

If you notice that CPU usage is running higher than normal, or that Internet Explorer is frequently crashing or slowing down, you should check your browser add-ons and video card. By default, Internet Explorer 11 uses graphics processing unit (GPU) rendering mode. However, some outdated video cards and video drivers don't support GPU hardware acceleration. If Internet Explorer 11 determines that your current video card or video driver doesn't support GPU hardware acceleration, it'll use Software Rendering mode.
To check your browser add-ons

  1. Start Internet Explorer 11 in No Add-ons mode by running the Run command from the Start menu, and then typing iexplore.exe -extoff into the box.
  2. Check if Internet Explorer still crashes.
If the browser doesn't crash, open Internet Explorer for the desktop, click the Tools menu, and click Manage Add-ons.
  3. Click Toolbars and Extensions, click each toolbar or extension, clicking Disable to turn off all of the browser extensions and toolbars.
  4. Restart Internet Explorer 11. Go back to the Manage Add-Ons window and turn on each item, one-by-one.
After you turn each item back on, see if Internet Explorer crashes or slows down. Doing it this way will help you identify the add-on that's causing Internet Explorer to crash.
After you've figured out which add-on was causing the problem, turn it off until you have an update from the manufacturer.
To check for Software Rendering mode

  1. Open Internet Explorer for the desktop, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, go to the Accelerated graphics section, and then turn on Software Rendering mode by choosing the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering box.
If the Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering option is greyed out, it means that your current video card or video driver doesn't support GPU hardware acceleration. For more information, see Is Internet Explorer slow? 5 things to try.
