IE 8 Change color on visited sites

IE 8 Change color on visited sites & shortcut for last tab used?

Sorry for what seems like a very basic question but I have never been able to get “visited sites” to be a color I chose under “internet options>appearance>colors.”

It seems to imply that it will be used on the actual web site but I want it on the page with all the links that I have just Googled a particular topic.


2nd Question:

I don’t think there is a way but I minus well ask it while I am here:

Is there a shortcut for “last tab used?” For example: Go from tab 10 to tab 2 then press a shortcut to go back to tab 10?

The colored links are related to your history. If your history is set for 20 days, then a visited link will be remembered for 20 days after which it will appear unvisited.

BTW on the Appearance button, in the resulting window, there is a help link with instructions about how to ignore fonts and colors specfied on web pages. You may have to do that so that your choices will be used.

I understand. If I take one of the links and then come back out, I would think the IE would consider that a "visited link" and change its color to what I specify?

MS limited description seems confusing. On one hand they use terminology that seems to describe the appearance of all the links on your search but at the same time, they seem to talk about the appearance once you enter a web site.

Does this feature work on your IE?

Is your problem that it never changes color at all?
Is your problem that it doesn't use your chosen color when it changes?
Does it change color after you refresh the page?

It makes no difference in any way and refreshing doesn't help either.

Yes, but after I refresh the page. You may want to try a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset. If newly visited links don't change color after that you may want to do it again only this time be sure to check "delete personal settings" as well. Be prepared to set up your add-ons again, favorite search provider, etc. since it will be like starting over (except, of course, your favorites will never be lost and will remain in your Favorites folder).

Microsoft has very confusing verbiage on changing the color and fonts under the appearance section. Most, as did I, think that it pertained to the links resulting from a search in a search engine such as Google. Not the case!

It strictly refers to the next level, i.e., once you venture into any particular web site.
