IE 9 Will not finish installing-Win 7 64 bit

I am running Win 7 64 bit SP 1,and when I try ti install IE9,it does not finish installing. I have done ALL the prerequisites and tried to install it both from the site by choosing run and also the standalone version to no avail.The programs it needs to close are Windows explorer and Microsoft Security clkient interface(which is MSE).Also I noticed in the display box for programs to close Windows explorer is shown twice(sometimes). Don't undstand why.My OS has been runnig great and when IE 9 was final today,Ithought this would be a walk inthe park. Any help wold be appreciated.:huh:

Tried it-no avail

I tried it and it states that this program is not applicable to this computer

Are you using the IE9 x86 or x64 package?

x86:

If this is the system from your specs, you need the x64 package.

I had the same issue, however thanks to cluberti I was able to install it using the standalone installer by doing the following steps:

-Unintall IE8 by unchecking IE8 in the Windows features box via Uninstall Programs and click ok
-Restart
-Download and run the IE9 x64 standalone installer and check yes when it asks you to install the update (KB982861 which is IE9).
-Restart
-Go back to Windows features and check IE9 and click ok
-Restart

You should have IE9 on your PC!

Can you zip or rar up and then post your IE9*.log files from \Windows? Those should log why you're failing and rolling back.

Isn't that wonderful I wanted to try that fix but when I went to Turn Windos features on or off ...it's blank. I'm beginning to think this Sp1 deal has alot of flaws.

Or your system was already broken before you installed SP1 and didn't notice it . Might be worth doing a repair install with SP1 media at this point.
