IE10: Fast, Fluid, Perfect for Touch, and Available Now for Windows 7

The other day FireFox 17 was released, I'm hoping that irons out some of the problems.

Firefox 17 "hosed" my "TabMix Plus" add-on (I'm helpless without it. :D).

Luckily the FF installer made a backup folder of the previous installation (Mozilla Firefox.bak) so I just copied the FF files over the new ones to revert to the previous version (16.0.2).

IE10 is awful. Crashes every few minutes. Using same settings as IE9 which was perfect. I'll give it a few more hours, then I'm going back.

Another good reason to stay clear of Win8 :(

TabMix is incompatible, with version 17. There will be an update soon, they fixed the crashing problems in 17, I'm not reverting back.

Windows8 is beautiful, fast, fluid. I know a majority of people don't understand it, or can't figure it out. It is a good OS. Once you are comfortable with 8, 7 becomes easier and XP is old school

Cannot Install IE10

Perhaps I should post this in the Browsers Forum - but I saw no post here stating that they had installation issues with IE10.

I have SP1 & all updates are current. I've downloaded & saved the IE10 installation file. Every time I run it, the installation progress completes & then reads "restarting programs...." After 15 seconds I get a message "Internet Explorer Did Not Finish Installing."

I use MSE for anti-virus & I don't have a bunch of add-on toolbars. I only have LastPass, which I disabled temporarily. Still no go. Any thoughts?

Speaking of Windows 8, I've decided to let it go, except on my sister's PC. It has crashed on my twice, once today, and I just clean installed.

Well, I'm back to IE10 after having similar page loading problems after a couple of days with IE9. I've never had these problems before but it appears bandwidth sharing is to blame. After tomorrow will be on 30mbps cable and things should improve.

Internet Explorer will ALWAYS be Internet Explorer, widely known for allowing viruses and spy programs without user knowledge or consent, slow and web standard-incompatible.

Although it improved a lot since then, most of it remains and IE is still an inferior choice to Opera, Firefox, Chrome or Safari (choose the one you like the most).
Lol, this guy.

I have IE10 on a different machine, and it looks like IE9 but with a Windows 8 twist to it, it's the same story with Office 2013, which I've uninstalled quite a while back since it was so slow at booting up and opening compatible files.

IE's not all that bad, can font-stretch and you can strip the navigator all the way down so it can't be reused. Pretty handy for HTML intranet applications, Internet prefer Chrome.

A couple things I noticed that IE 10 can't do.

It will not allow me to update my routers firmware when using IE10 but IE9 still works for this. Obviously this is for security reasons but none the less we need to be able to do these things with our browsers.

Hmmm... haven't tried that one yet. Which router brand do you have? I've got a Linksys E3000. My firmware is currently updated to the latest version so I can't test this the update side.

Thanks for the info.

I'm using a D-link DIR-655 which is a standard Ethernet/wireless n router with excellent reviews.

My firmware is updated but I had to use another machine with IE9 and Windows 7 because apparently there is no way to do this with IE10, although I did try to bring down the security settings for this to work but to no avail, it may be possible to do so with more work.

I also can't use my router gateway settings .gws file to restore my routers settings in case it crashes, IE10 think's it's a script and therefore won't let me run it.

My worry is that if I updated all my other Windows 7 machines to IE10 I wouldn't be able to perform firmware updates on my router or access point or use the .gws file to restore the gateway settings.

I'm always puzzled by these incidents/reports, "(Firefox/IE10/Other) crashes all the time on my PC."

I've noticed this behaviour at my TAFE.

  1. All of the machines were bought in bulk (i.e. identical specs)
  2. They all use the same HDD image
  3. Some of the machines have problems with certain programs.
I don't see where anyone has posted this. So here goes. IE SUCKS!

I then updated Firefox (to 17.0.1) and "TabMix Plus" worked correctly.

Thanks for the "heads up" though. :)
