IE10 geolocation fails: current position could not be determined

Hi. Running Win 7 Professional 32bit machine. I have up-to-date versions of IE10, Firefox and Chrome.

If I go to HTML5 Demo: geolocation using Firefox and Chrome and confirm that I want to share my location, both browsers successfully show the map.

IE10, however, fails. The failure is immediate. This also occurs on my colleague's machine too running a Win 7 Professional 64bit machine. It's not only on this site either. I only noticed it wasn't working because I'm coding a Javascript geolocation service and, while checking cross-browser compatibility, it failed on that too. The error is "current position could not be determined'.

I've checked the IE options, taken it in and out of protected mode, and ensured that "Never allow websites to request your physical location" is unchecked, but it still won't work. There don't appear to be any issues raised anywhere else on the internet, so I'm assuming this is an isolated incident, which makes it more of a problem I suppose. Is there something I'm missing?

I get a popup on the bottom of ie asking stating the site want to track.... I personally closed the popup and exited the site,
But did you get a prompt ?

Seems the most straight forward thing to try is reset or possibly use No add-ons mode,
No Add-ons mode/ Click the Start button and type in the search box,
Internet explorer
Click on the suggestion or it’s located at,
Start/ All programs/ Accessories folder/ System tools folder/ No add-ons.

Check the box to Delete personal settings.
Post what Security suite you have installed and also the other computer.

"No-add ons" failed too. In answer to your question the popup does appear, just like it does for Chrome and Firefox, the geolocation just fails.

I also reset IE inc. personal settings; that failed too.

Both machines have F-secure Antivirus for Workstations installed.

Okay thanks for the additional information,
Which option did you select on the popup/ Allow once ?
I'm unsure why your wanting to use this geo location search function can you give more information about why you want to run it ?
I'm not familiar with it and I'm hesitant to use it to see if it errors without more information about it and what type of Pandora's box does it open
You can go to Internet options/ Privacy/ and use Clear sites if you haven't already ?
When you reset did you use the recommended settings on the popup message when first opening Internet explorer ?
The only other thing I can think of is click Start/ All programs/ Right click ie10 and click on Run as administrator and test the issue ?

Welcome to Seven Forums awillis. I don't have IE10, so maybe you or TZ can confirm if this reg key for IE9 exists, and what it's value is

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Geolocation] "BlockAllWebsites"=dword:00000001

dword:00000001 = disable geolocation

dword:00000000 = enable geolocation

I would guess it wouldn't be any different in ie9 ?
