Solved IE11 crashing on startup (Win7 Enterprise)

Hi SevenForums,
I have Dell XPS 14 (Windows 7 Enterprise) which I'm investigating a problem with the Internet Explorer 11 crashing on start-up. I can get round the problem by ticking the' use software rendering instead of GPU rendering' option. That is all well and good but it prevents printing from IE, thus crashing there.
I've spent a fair bit of time, rolling back Windows Restore, finding and installing drivers and re-installing IE none of which worked.
Has any one found a proper fix for this?
Any help or advice please share, I'm at my wits end with this!

Full system spec's of the machine and printer might help,
Also what type of browser add-ons exist make sure your set on show all add-ons gear symbol/ manage add-ons,

Have you tested using clean boot ?

I've just uninstalled IE11, rebooted and installed IE10 - no joy


I want to fix the issue with IE crashing with out the need for software rendering. The printing issue is secondary and will work when the former issue is fixed.


Please ask if I've missed anything off.

I've just tried with all add-ons disabled and it still crashed.

Hi and thanks,
9 times out of 10 a crashing ie is a browser add-on,
You can test multiple ways,
One being In-private browsing,
Or No add-ons mode Ctrl+R and iexplore.exe -extoff

Third party security add-ons are the most common crasher which security is installed ?
Others can be BHO link helpers installed by other browsers like Chrome or third party toolbars,

Pretty much why the browser add-ons page is necessary,
Drivers for the card might be a player in why software rendering is needed I have the GT 640 without any issue with or without software rendering :/
But then again I keep a tight startup too

It seems to work as Safe Mode with Networking.


This is with hardware rendering enabled

That would point to definitely a third party utility.. as being in the way

Very strange happenings? I just took the laptop back to the user and made sure their profile was ok (was testing with my profile) and suddenly it stops crashing when browsing with software rendering on and off.


The print issue is still there. Clicking print just says 'the program has stopped' and have to close and restart it.


I have attached the start-up items and the services for you to look at.

I'm sure the printer needs to be uninstalled or upgraded,

There's many startup's that could be and should be removed,

ccleaner is supposed to have a good way to remove startup items without simply unchecking the box not familiar with it though :/

Services was to long and text I don't believe you uncheck the box to hide Microsoft services

Use Clean boot,

Click Start and type in the search box,
msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
Repeat the screen shots,
