Anyone got this problem on Windows 7 RC?
Every 3 or 4 hours, msfeedssync.exe process will fail to close. And thus breaking the scheduling for downloading feeds.

I've to kill the process then do a force sync by doing a "Refresh All" on the feeds.
msfeedssync will fail after about 8 times.

Basically, IE8 updates its feeds by scheduling a task that calls msfeedssync.
When msfeedssync is running, it'll schedule the next run time to 8am (or depending on your time zone?) the next day.
After syncing feeds, msfeedssync will re-schedule itself to run in the next 15min, 30min etc (depending on your default schedule)

So the process either failed while downloading feeds, or failed when attempting to reschedule itself...

Works fine on XP though.

nope, not working

googled and got those links long ago, but to no avail....

i've been contacting one of the ie8 guys, sent him some diag files, but no reply yet...

anyone here has 10 RSS feeds in IE8?

i tried resetting IE8 and re-adding the feeds, it went smoothly yesterday, so i thought it's fixed. But alas, it's back again.

frankly, i thought using task scheduler for IE8's feeds isn't a good idea... it's introducing an external point of failure...

guess i'll have to write a script to kill and reschedule msfeedssync.... :(

Could we get your computer specs, clean install or update, 32 bit or 64, etc

It's frustrating. I spent the night watching the processes in task manager and refreshing task scheduler, but everything went smoothly.... :p

Could be IE8? I've been using it as default browser and opened/closed numerous tab on an average day, got a couple of tab crashes (when it doesn't respond to stop/refresh)

I'll switch default browser back to firefox for a day, to see if msfeedssync is working properly without ever opening IE8.

OK, i've narrowed down the problem to msfeedssync failing if there's a momentary loss of internet connection (i hate my ISP) when it's attempting to download feeds.

i wonder if i can set a timeout value for msfeedssync....

i can't really pin point what's went wrong with msfeedssync, but i lack the expertise to reverse engineer the exe.

using TCPView, i get no activity from msfeedssync, it's just waiting there.

let's hope it'll get fixed when it retails in october.

anyway, i've moved on to using google reader to keep track of my RSS feeds. :P
