Solved IE9 - 2sec startup delay; 0-2sec delay when opening tabs

I have tried to fix this but to no avail. This is a list of what I have tried (I probably forgot a few things):

- run IE9 with no add-ons
- run IE9 in 64bit mode
- tried the above 2 in safe mode
- deleted the registry keys corresponding to Spybot, even though it's not installed
- uninstalled and reinstalled IE9
- "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll" in an admin cmd
- reset to default settings in the advanced tab
- tried with GPU rendering on and off
- ran Malwarebytes and found nothing

I have a Q9400, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6850, and a SSD for my W7x64 Ultimate; so my computer is blistering fast. Any more ideas? Thanks

Doubt you want to hear this, but my honest solution to the problem is to use either firefox or chrome instead.
I have friends who put your system to shame and I.E. just never seems to 'pop' for them.

You could use another browser or just live with it...I'd chalk it up to IE simply being, well, IE.

This is strange indeed. And you did everything in the book. Did you try e.g. Chrome and does it do the same act on you.

Chrome works fine. What's weird is that my IE has been running perfectly (more than a year now) until I started noticing the delay. I don't have System Restore enabled, so I can't use that.

What is really confusing is that the IE without add-ons does not work correctly either. Normally it is the add-ons that are the suspects.

Maybe something is corrupted. You can always try an sfc /scannow and an installation repair. Cannot hurt.

If you want all the snap back if you are running on a installation of windows that is over a year old.
Reformatting is always an option. It often returns a bit of the snap to applications like explorer that build up logs , temp files, and caches that no cleaning program can ever get rid of completely.

I just did a reformat last week and gained a solid 2 seconds on app loads in general.

To be honest though is a 2 second delay something to be worried about. I have RoboForm and WOT addons in IE9 that occasionally I'll be told add several seconds to my start up, but I don't stop them as they are something I want in my browser and I don't actually notice any delay when starting or using IE9.

To reply to whs, I tried a sfc /scannow and it found corrupt files, but it won't fix them. Tried this scan in windows and with a recovery cd. The relevant entries in the CBS log are as follows:

That does indicate windows file corruption, and could be causing god only knows what problems...

iassdo.dll which is referenced there I do believe has something to do with the internet stack though. So it could be connected to internet explorer.

I think you meant your graphics card is a Radeon 6850 ?
Back to your problem try a system restore to before you had problems.
If that does not work try
Back up all your data reformat your system drive & reinstall Windows.

Found the problem, there were some errors on my backup HDD which is used for my pagefile and windows backup. Once I disabled the drive, IE9 was quick again.
