Image issues

I have gateway nv53a24u that the hard drive failed on and will no longer boot. I replaced it with a cloned hd from a toshiba satallite 675c7200 with Windows 10. I created an image to an external hd from the gateway before it went out and when I try to image the gateway with this file it does not see it as available even though I can see it on the hard drive. I don't want to have these computers running the same Windows product key as I'm sure that will cause issues very quickly. Is there any solution.?

Is there a product key on the COA sticker of the Gateway and for what system.

Not that is readable it has been worn down over the years

The sn for the laptop is readable if that were to help at all

Nah, the sn does not help. You may try to activate with the key you currently have (keyfinder), but that may be a generic key.

Just a thought but if I restore it back to Windows 7 will it possibly read the image file?

That is a possibility. That Windows 10 does strange things. I avoid it like the plague.

What does "no good" mean. Do you get any messgaes. Is there a problem with your disk.

Sorry yes there must be a problem because it says there is no image to restore from

In the future, I suggest you use free Macrium which works on all systems. Then you don't get those problems.
