Image on monitor too wide.

Hi everyone

My dad accidently pressed a button on his monitor and now the image on his monitor looks slightly too wide.

Ive pressed the auto adjust button on the monitor to try and fix it, and it says for optimal display I should change the resolution to 1360x768. Ive tried to do this but it just tells me that its "out of range 68.5khz/85hx"

The current resolution is 1024x768.

He has a LG Flatron W1943SB monitor and a Emachines EL1358 computer.

keep the hertz @60 do not go higher as I was not able to verify the max refresh rate for that specific monitor.
They should all support a flat 60 rate though.

How do you keep the hertz at 60?

Right click on Desktop, select Screen Resolution.

Click on Advanced Settings. The monitor properties dialog box opens. Click on Monitor tab at top.

Here you see in Monitor Settings - Screen refresh rate. click on dropdown box and select 60Hz. You may also select True color below. Click on OK button and close all the windows.

I did that but it was already set to 60 hertz, so I dont know whats going on there

Usually the monitors have buttons through which you can enter the on screen display menu (OSD menu). Here you can adjust the width and height of the image and also move the image in four directions. With these controls you can make the image on screen to fill the screen.
