The log files from the scanning tools suggested by Malwaretips are best handled by those that frequent the security sub-forum.

Surfing to an IP address will probably get you to the webpage, but the webpage itself is usually presenting info from other domains. Those domains would still need to be resolved before that content could be displayed. And then there is the complex issue of load balancing and server aliases.

You can resolve www.sevenforums.com to 184.172.52.99 and put that in your favorites/bookmarks, but DNS queries still happen when you load the main page and traffic shows to be coming from mail2.designermedia.com.

Yeah, right (That sounded kinda sarcastic in my head, not meant that way).
I wrote that app back in 2000 after reading something on ZDNet about editing your Host file to speed up just getting to the initial site (like if your main DNS server is overloaded or slow or something I guess).
The source file is only like 43k and took me all of one day to write it.
It was more or less one of those "I've got nothing better to do tonight, I think I'll write some code".
I did that a lot back in those days :)
In addition to doing IT repair type crap, I also worked as a Software Engineer for a few years.
Look up "StarDotZip" sometime. I wrote that, but it probably won't work on Win7 or above though.
I haven't touched the source code in ages.
