Inadequate Hardware?

I'm buying the Windows 7 Pro x64 version and I want to make sure my Specs are on the up-in-up.
Now I know that both my motherboard and cpu are capable of running x64 bit versions of Windows, but my main concern is with the small stuff. Some users find that there are small graphical errors in the interface (flickering when they close a window), and since my computer is hand built I wanted to know if I will run into problems.

Currently I run Windows XP Pro x32 (I understand that I will have to preform a custom install)
Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 @ 2.66GHz
Gigabyte S-series GA-EP35-DS3L Motherboard
2 gb of DDR2 (Corsair xms 2) (that's where I ran out of money.) :(
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
Toshiba HD
And an ASUS and Lightscribe DVD-ROM readers

Anyone that has a similar build that ran into problems please let me know.

You shouldn't have any problems with that setup.

You might want to check the hardware vendors for the latest drivers to see if they're Windows 7 compatible first.

Awesome, another question.
Can I update with the DigitalRiver download? I have the authoring tools ready to turn it into an .iso, but I'd still like to know if it's possible.

Actually, now that I think of it. Could I partition my hard drive and fresh install from the .iso? Or is it an upgrade only?
Also, I want to get the x64 bit version. Don't suppose that's possible at all?

Hrm, I don't know what the DigitalRiver is offering, but if it's upgrade media, you can clean install with it, you'll need to use a trick from our tutorial section though.

Also if you are upgrading from 32 to 64 bit, you'll need to clean install too.

I've read that Digitalriver has made the downloads available as .iso files. (Originally they were not .iso.) That's what I'd get if I qualified. (I don't. I got the iso from the Microsoft Store.)

Of course you can get the X64 version. That's been one of the major complaints. The X64 version originally available from Digitalriver could not be custom installed on a system with a pre-existing 32 bit OS. A retail upgrade version can easily do that (boot from the DVD).

I've also read that the student key gives you the full version.

Just wanted to make an update here. I was able to custom install Windows 7 x64 over Windows XP x32 without a problem, you just had to convert the install files to .iso.
