Include Folder in Library clarification please

Since folders in Public Libraries could not be 'relocated' using the 'Properties>Location' method, I moved the contents of Public Music, Pictures, Videos to a storage area on different HDD. I named them G:\Music, Pictures, Videos. (Of course these were all done individually.)

Can I include the G:\Music, Pictures, Video folders in the respective Public folders, and expect them to be shared with the user libraries.

Am I correct in assuming that only a connection is established, that all the files remain on the G drive.

I am doing this to reposition library files off the existing C drive in preparation to mirate to a new SSD as the C drive.

It sounds like you may just be misunderstanding libraries with their included folders.

You could include the G: folders into libraries of your choice, but not in a Public folder. The Public folders are included in the libraries.

You are correct that the G: folders will actually be on the G drive, but also accessible from any library that you include the G: folder in.

When you migrate to the new SSD, you would just need to include the G folders to the libraries again to have them back.

Ok, the G: Music, Pictures, Video folders will have to be included in each individual users Music, Pictures, Video library.

Back to the same confusion about libraries.
Prior to migrating to the SSD I 'relocated' My Documents folder from the old Win 7 Documents library to another drive.
The SSD is now up and running Win 7 Pro. It has a My Documents folder in the Documents library. It contains 3 folders from a new install of Family Tree Maker. In the same user library is also Public Documents, and the My Documents 'include in library' from the earlier 'relocation'. My Family Tree Maker application, when Open is selected, can't see beyond the first My Documents folder. The FTM working files are in the second My Documents folder.
What am I missing?

Since you moved your "My Documents" folder to the K: drive, that would be why the FTM folder is there.

The FTM program may still be wanting to use your C: location since there is a FTM folder still there. Is there anything in the FTM folder at your C: location? If not, then you could remove the "C:\Users\Linda\Documents" location from your Documents library to not see it anymore.

In addition, did you want to keep your Documents library "grouped by" folder path, or have everything display together without the tree? If you prefer together, then you could click on View -> Group by -> (None) to do so.
