Increasing a PS/2 mouse's polling/refresh/sample rate in 64-bit Win7

Back in Windows XP, I was able to increase a PS/2 mouse's sampling rate from its default setting to 200 Hz at `Device Manager > Mouse > 'Name of Mouse' > Properties > Advanced Settings > Sample Rate` (like this [link]), but this setting is now gone in Windows 7. Is there another way to increase or change a PS/2 mouse's polling/refresh/sample rate in 64-bit Windows 7?

The mouse uses generic installed-by-Windows default drivers back in XP, and the same with Windows 7.

I suspect you may be able too with software form the mouse's maker. The shot you posted is Logitech's mouse ware, not Windows. Currently unless it is a high dollar mouse, all we have to work with is a Windows PnP mouse driver and has no sample rate settings.

My mouse (a typical mouse with a middle click, scrolling button) didn't come with software from the manufacturer back in Windows XP (advertised as plug-and-play), but the generic installed-by-Windows drivers still allowed me to edit the sampling rate.

What about hidden tweaks/settings that I could do to edit the sampling rate?

You must have had Microsoft's Mouswware or Logitech's. I had XP for years and had no sampling setting. why not get a USB optical mouse? I have a cheap Logitech M214, 2.4GHz and works fine.

My desktop PC has a PS/2 mouse port, and using the mouse PS/2 port instead of the USB port will save me one extra USB port.

USB mice don't have sampling settings in either Windows XP or Windows 7 (you need a third-party program to tweak sampling settings with USB mice). I have not used or installed Microsoft Mouseware or Logitech mouse and drivers back in Windows XP, and with Windows 7.

Also, every PS/2 mouse I've tried in Windows XP (I've also used XP for years) that uses default installed-by-Windows drivers has a sampling setting, which made me wonder why this setting was removed in Device Manager in Windows 7.
