Increasing program font sizes?

Having just changed my monitor resolution to 1280x1064, as understandable, the monitor display contents shrunk considerably. I know of options to increase fonts and icon sizes on the desktop and the Ctrl/+ to increase them on browsers.

I have my display setting at 100% (small), because I maintain websites and want a 1:1 font relationship with viewers. I have tried the magnifier, but it isn't what I want.

Basically I am ok, except for application fonts, which are now tiny and don't adhere to the Ctrl/+ option. Does anyone know of a quick way to view larger fonts on applications, without having to change the display setting to either 125% or 150%, which then requires a reboot.

Program Fonts

Went to the tutorial you mentioned.....

This will show you how to change most or all of the default fonts in Windows 7 for Active Title Bar, Icon, Inactive Title Bar, Menu, Message Box, Palette Title, Selected Items, ToolTip, and various Dialog Box text and buttons.

Changing a Windows 7 font doesn't change your program fonts.

You will see, that the very "explicit" question I asked, was if there was a way to change "program fonts", which this tutorial "explicitly" advises does not do.

I assume that I will have to change my display to 125% or 150%, as I did mention, however I was just looking to see if there was a "quick" way to increase program fonts, without having to re-login each time.....

I am sorry, you question was not explicit enough to me. You didn't mentioned what applications you are talking about, thus I mistakenly assumed you are talking about default Windows applications. And for them that trick works.

You can check this post, but changing DPI (to 125% or more) might be the only way in your case.

By "application" I meant software installed to the operating system, and not Window7 itself. This is PostBox, FeedReader, and just about any 3rd party software, including Microsoft Works, Streets and Traveler etc..

Actually, I reset my display to 125% and 150% and the font size did NOT change, testing it on PostBox and FeedReader3.

It looks like the "complete" font dependence is on the actual monitor resolution alone for installed software.

By applying different DPI -125% or 150% FeedReader3 font size DOES change, but for menu only (that's the way developer decided apparently).

To change font size for items (surprise!) you need to use tutorial in second post and edit font size for item: ICON.

You're right that FeedReader3, and most other installed software fonts increased with the increase in the display setting to either 125% or 150%. I was using PostBox as my priority software to check this out, and guess what, it does not get larger with a larger display size.

It looks like this may not follow the Windows 7 compatibility settings like the others do. Seems I should contact the originator of this software.
