Inexpensive audio switchers

Hi guys, I have a bit of a situation that I'd like to work out. I'm looking to get the Creative Fatal1ty gaming headset with the 3.5mm jacks. However, I'd like to be able to switch between my headset and speakers without having to go to the back of my PC to do so.

I did a little bit of research and found the plantronics audio switch (which is discontinued, but I have found a source).

The only problem is that I have Logitech 5.1 speakers, so there's the orange, black and green jacks. The audio switch however, has only two green (one speaker, one headset). Would I still be able to use this switch with my 5.1 speakers?

I'm thinking I may have to separate the green speaker cable from the other two, as the three of them are kept together, or perhaps use some kind of extension, as I'd prefer not to compromise the structure of the cable(s).

I also tried getting the front panel of my case working, but because of my Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 ZS, the microphone jack will not work properly (different problem, mic-bias only sending out 2.5v as opposed to 5v). So the front panel won't really be an option.

The other option I considered was going USB, but I haven't found any USB headsets that I like in a certain price range, and I've also heard mixed reviews about them.

I use 2 different USB headsets, Logitech G35 (kinda pricey) and a Sennheiser PC135USB (quite a bit cheaper).
I have been very pleased with both of them. I like the fact that I just plug them into my G15 keyboard or into my hub on my desk.
I would recommend getting a USB headset.

Would I be able to use any other analog 3.5mm headset with it? If so, where can I find something that works with it? Or would the headset itself need to be digital for the USB converter to work?

Also, I was looking for somethign that would go over the head and cover the entire hear. But the logitechs may be an exception.

One thing to remember... the (any) USB solution installs as a separate audio device completely independent from the 5.1 PC audio.

If it's for games then you should be ok (guessing here), as most games allow choice of audio device.

That adapter will work with any headset with 3.5mm plugs. My Sennheisers are like that.

It is indeed for gaming!

Where can I find such a device? As the pictured device comes with the logitech headset only. I'd like for it to be less than $30, as I'd still like some money left to purchase a headset as well.

After doing some searching, I've discovered that what I'm looking for is a USB sound card. Can anyone recommend a decent one?

Or would using the plantronics switch be a better idea?
