Infection On Both HD's Question

Hello,

Was wondering about this a bit:

a. If there are two "Users" set up on a PC. Single internal HD
Would an "infection by a virus or some trojan, or Malware, likely also infect both Users ?

b. How about if there are two internal D's.
Not sure what exactly they both share regarding System type resources.

An infection likely to infect both HD's ?

I didn't quite understand your question, but it can spread of course if it is an network spreading virus, for example a Net-Worm.

a. Probably. Virus infections usually are associated with application executable or system files which would effect all users. Any sophisticated virus, and they all are now, would certainly wish to do so.

b. Depends on how the hard disks are used. Hard disks used for data only are less likely to be infected than those used for the OS and applications. But nothing is certain with virus infections.

Very complicated question.

Because their are so many infections created everyday it would be very difficult for a security expert (I'm not one) to give a cover all answer.

I will keep my answer simple so I can understand it.

***My rule of the thumb.***

If something is on your computer or is attached to your computer in any fashion it could get infection or infect other things installed or hooked up to said computer.
It depends on how the infections was wrote and it's intended use when applied.

The new infection on data drives is Ransom Ware. It will encrypt your data drive and request money to unlock the encrypted data drive so the data can be accessed again by the owner.
