Install Help with Solidworks

Hi

I'm a student trying to install Solidworks 2008-09 on my pc that we have just put Windows 7 on but it brings up an error message saying I can't install Solidworks with a 64-bit OS.

Is there any way round this? I want to keep Windows 7 running rather than going back to XP if I can help it but can't afford to buy the latest version of Solidworks just to install it, I only bought this version less than a yr ago.

You are going to have to provide solidworks with info. they are here SolidWorks :: Video & Graphics Card Testing

If vista 64bit is supported wikn 7 should run it

I have emailed Solidworks and they just replied saying that Windows 7 is only compatible with the latest version of Solidworks.

I dont know how your school does it, but we have to burn the .iso from the school network...make sure you are getting the 64bit version if thats what your computer is running (as there is a 32 and 64bit version, as with many other tech programs). Like stated, there wont be any compatibility issues as long as you have the correct version. You say 2008-2009...which version are you talking about (as it's either 2008 or 2009)? I installed SW2009 just fine on my computer.

AMy did you even go to the web site? they have a vista driver for 32 bit and 64 bit, but you have to tell them what your system is. Or not

I'm at Uni not school and have bought the version of SolidWorks myself, it's not written to a disk from uni. It's a student version 2008-09 so it isn't the normal version being either 2008 or 2009.

I've looked but I don't beleive my graphics card is listed on the SW website, I'm not especially good with technical computer things though. I've got an ATI Radeon 4870.

The problem your having is that you need the 64 bit version of Solidworks. Im looking for a way to install Solidworks x86 onto my x64 system so some of my Cam software will work. Currently it only supports solidworks x86 and i didn't want to have to dual boot.

Ok. I've got it installed now but not tried doing anything with it yet. It's running through an emulator I believe, seems really slow.
