Older versions of Windows used to give an option to install a new application so that it was visible to all user accounts on the computer or only the one that you used to do the installation. How is that done now?
I want to install a few programs that all user accounts on the computer will be able to use but I'm not seeing any way to do that in Win7. Do I really need to install the same program multiple times - once for each user account - if I want it accessible to all user accounts? If not, how do I insure that it is installed into ALL user accounts existing on the machine?
I've got two user accounts on this machine at the moment, Kathe and Rhino. I've installed a program called Filezilla in Kathe's user account and it runs fine. I want Rhino to be able to run the same program without having to install it separately for him. What exactly do I need to do under each user account to make the program run separately for both users?
Look inside you "C:\Program Files" folder for a folder that FileZilla installed to. If there, open it, and look for the program's .exe file. If there, you can create a shortcut for it in your account.

"Installing" a program inherently implies making it available for every account in the system, that's why they're normally put in program files and why you're asked administrative privileges when installing. Any user can run everything under program files, and shortcuts typically are put under all user's start menu.
Some installers have an option to install "for this user" or "for all users". Mostly it really control where shortcuts are created and sometimes doesn't works at all, but nothing about the operating systemm itself.

Sorry to post to an old post It was on topic with what I was looking for
So one of my coworkers didn't install it to the "program file" folder. Can I just move the programs there and create shortcuts for the users? There are three custom applications that are a read Pain in the backside to reinstall and configure.
I'm not nearly as expert in these things as the people who responded to the question but it would seem simple enough to create shortcuts for each user and then verify that they work. It will either work or fail but it shouldn't hurt anything. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, post back here and maybe one of the experts will answer.
