Hey Guys,

the hp 20-2000a desktop comes with windows 8.1 - further it was upgraded to Win 10 - both are not the wished OS. I am installing win 7 Pro SP1 but I am hanging in a loop after disabling the secure boot.
I tried many forums even HP - I really need help to get this machine going with WIN 7 - which I recon is still the best Windows. here my specs:

HP 20-2000a
motherboard:
AMPKB - PT (Daisy)
Processor
AMD E1 - 2500 APU
4GB DDR 3 (1300mhz) memory
Sound:
Realtek ALC 3228 CG Audio
Powersupply:
External 65 W (100V-240V)

A classic infinite loop have way through the installation...
After 6 hours today I am slightly done.

Any ideas?

Cheers Guys
Grandioso

Did you enable Legacy boot in the bios ?

Is the hard drive or ssd initialized as a MBR disk ?

You`ve already disabled secure boot so those 2 things should be your last issue. :)

Master boot record (MBR) disks use the standard BIOS partition table. GUID partition table (GPT) disks use unified extensible firmware interface (UEFI). One advantage of GPT disks is that you can have more than four partitions on each disk. GPT is also required for disks larger than 2 terabytes.

Your windows 8.1 drive was most likely a GPT disk (hard drive) it has to be converted to MBR, easily done with Diskpart using your install DVD

In order to install 7 quick easy and fast, the bios needs to be changed to Legacy boot, or like my Z170, it may have a Legacy & UEFI boot mode option as well as straight UEFI

Your bios should at least have the Legacy & UEFI boot option.

It will look like this

Legacy
Legacy & UEFI (enable this if the bios has it)
UEFI

Sorry AddRam, didn't understand why move to MBR. Win 7 can be installed on EFI and GPT.
Secure boot is chained with UEFI. If you disable Secure boot you can have Legacy or UEFI.
My choice would be to install win 7 with SATA=AHCI and UEFI.

Grandioso, please describe: A classic infinite loop have way through the installation...
Some HP bios has hidden commands. Google for it.
