Installing 7077 64-bit on another partition, how is it?

So, I got bored so I'm installing Win7 7077 64bit on a small 200gb partition. How do you all like it so far? You think it would of fixed my surround sound issue I've been having with Win7 (onboard surround sound)?

not sure But I did Install 7077 x64 on a 30 gig partition on my Media Center machine (now it dual boots vista and windows 7) and it works like a champ...

I just looked at your other post, had you attempted to try using the Vista driver for your onboard audio? Almost all Vista drivers are compatible with Windows 7. Try out 7077, and if it's fixed, woo hoo. If not, try installing the vista x64 driver for your onboard audio. (probably part of the chipset driver package)

Hmmm... I can't understand what's the relation between your Windows 7 installation into a 200 GB. partition and your on-board sound problem. :sarc:
By the way, I don't like big partition for OS. In all my PCs I've a partition of 40 GB. at the start of the disk drive just for Windows 7 and some programs, so I can avoid some disk fragmentation's slowdowns, also having less to defrag when I have to.

PS: What's the brand and model of your on-board sound or motherboard?

It's an ASUS P5Q SE PLUS motherboard.

And I didn't really feel like making a separate partition just for Win7 so I made a bigger one to test it out on. My native Arch and Vista installs are on small 50gb partitions though and data on another drive.

heh, i tried to install the vista drivers for my onboard realtek, and wound up with weird sound wobble, the xp drivers are setup to not install, so i can't use those like i could with my usb wifi adapter, and the default w7 drivers work flawlessly. it's kind of sad :v
