installing a bigger SSD.. advice required

currently have 60G SSD with OS on.. (see specs)
I now find that I'm running out of space and want to replace it with a 100G SSD..

- basically I need to know the quickest/safest method of doing a direct swap..
- oh and any advice re. good deals on 100G SSD's wouldn't go amiss..

the free-ed up 60G SSD will then be used for DATA only, so I'll wipe that and re-use as an additional drive..


PS: if the best way is a re-install, then so be it - just thought I'd check with the guru's, first..:geek:

Why not add say, a 500gb HD Drive for DATA. SSD is not need for DATA only.

all relevant files from W7 OS are transferred there as well (MyDocs stuff, etc..)

the spare 60G SSD will be used as a fast DATA store..
already have another 60G SSD with fast progs on - games, etc..

the new 100G SSD will be the main C: Drive, holding the OS..

any half-decent imaging program should do the cloning job.

or if you just want something which will clone your drive byte-for-byte, i've used easeus disk copy with great success in the past.

make a boot disc, and away you go...

I just did the same thing a week ago. But, I've always believed a clean install was the best way. But, if you want to transfer the os to the new drive, the fastest and most fool proof way is to use Paragon Migrate. It isn't free ($19.95), but it is fast and will transfer the OS, align and format the SSD for you. Transferring the OS to an SSD is what it was made for. I have used it on numerous occasions and it has never failed me. It will take like 20 minutes and you will be on your new SSD.
There is also a good tutorial on this site about transferring the OS to an SSD
