Im trying to put windows xp on it using the windows millenium pc but im getting a invalid boot diskette error When im not even trying to use a diskette, So,

Is there a way i can hook up the desktop harddrive to my laptop install the operating system and then move the hard drive back onto the desktop machine?

Is it possible? Thanks for listening

It might work with an eSata port - if you have one on your laptop.

Here is a solution for Windows7 for USB attached HDDs. Not sure whether that would work for XP.

Update the BIOS to latest version which may be required to even run XP. You know XP is at the end of its life, right?

Make sure you have XP with SP3.

Try wiping the HD first.

I take that as Windows ME, & wiped the HHD

Try reinstalling Windows ME,
than
Upgrade to Win XP from the desktop.

I honestly dont think its gonna reinstall windows ME Because it wont even boot up DBAM
(Deriks boot and nuke)

I got it too boot to the DBAM- Wiped the hard drives.
Then got it too boot to windows xp setup, the setup then failed And now its not even booting to DBAM Im gonna try to re-install windows me though.

Isn't ME pre-NT? I forget. If it is, the drive may not work without a hard format and that doesn't work through USB to IDE adapters. It has to be connected directly to an IDE channel. Gosh, disk drives are cheap as dirt. Give it up. :)

Ops, I may have misunderstood what you were trying to do. :o
