I just upgraded from the latest version of Intel Storage Matrix Manager to Intel RST v10.1.0.1008. I would check what version of Intel Storage Matrix Manager I upgraded from, but the driver download portion of the Intel web site is not responding right now.

After I upgraded, the system tray icon stated that the Intel RST service failed to start. I changed it from Automatic (delay) to Automatic, per what had been an issue with Intel RST v9.x on my other PC, and rebooted.

That did nothing. Once again, the system tray icon stated that the Intel RST service failed to start. I tried to manually start the Intel RST service, but it failed to start again.

I looked around online and did not find anything helpful. Most of the material references the Automatic (delay) from Intel RST v9.x rather than the Intel RST service not starting when manually triggered.

For reference, I am running a RAID 1 array on a Gigabyte motherboard with the Intel ICH9R chipset. It is mirroring two 250GB EIDE HDDs.

1) Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this?

2) I cannot view the status of the RAID 1 array in MS Windows 7, though the RAID BIOS indicate everything is still working. However, I am paranoid. Is the RAID 1 array really still synchronized and functioning despite the Intel RST service failing?

Hello Maltay and welcome to the forum

I always turn this program off. I prefer to run without it as I do not find it particularly useful, but you could try reinstalling it.

As for the RAID array if you get big problems like you suggest, you will know about it as the drive will simply not work. It is far better to back up your data now, then, in the worst case you simply solve the problem with the RAID (IE change out a broken disk) set up a new RAID and copy your data back again.

How long did you wait for RST to start. On my system, it is the last program that comes alive in the notification area even though the icon loads earlier.
RAID will function fine without RST monitor running. Only the drivers are required.
