Intermittent BSOD (MiniDump) Please Help

Hello,

I have issues very similar to kennedy1 few threads back.

I am consistently getting BSOD while using my computer - its a new HPE-210F that I bought 5 days ago. Never set off by any one thing, it seems to happen randomly, surfing Internet, scanning documents, typing in Open Office. Never really associated with one thing.

I have attached the report as per the instructions.

All of your .dmp files are reporting a 0x124 general hardware error. Unfortunately, it rarely specifies which component is causing the crash.. However, I would start with your PSU.. 300W is not enough to power the components that you have, and this can cause your system to crash..

Thanks Tews.

I read that post and it is suggesting to update all drivers. After seeing the BSD first time I updated the GPU driver by installing the latest Catalyst control center from ATi (version 2010.0930.2237.38732

Can you suggest which other drivers should I update and how ?

I did not see any out of date drivers, and your .dmp files do not indicate a driver issue.. this is a straight hardware problem ... Start by upgrading your PSU... Good luck..

I just bought this 5 days back - I am wondering if this is a PSU issue it should impact the entire product line of this model HPE-210F. In the reviews I had read I did see people advising to upgrade the PSU but I didn't see many reporting any issues. also, I haven't yet added any components besides the Monitor, Speaker, Keyboard, Mouse and 1 External Hard Drive using USB. Since its a refurb with 3 months warranty I need suggestions if I should contact HP for a PSU replacement or just pursue buying a new higher power PSU ? Is there anything more I can look or try before spending more money in buying the PSU ? I feel a it uncomfortable that for a brand new machine I am starting to swap peripherals "starting with PSU" - I truly appreciate the help and need suggestions if this is the best course of action or can I try something else ?

Apparently this is a known issue then... I know that it's discouraging, however in most cases, the PSU is the cheapest component in a factory rig... that and the fact that its a refurbished unit doesn't help either ... I would go ahead and replace it your self, as a replacement from the factory is just going to be another 300w PSU... Let us know how it comes out!

Can you help me chose, I am not a gamer but do plan to add another 1TB HDD and run it in RAID1 config. I also plan to move the DVD Drive from by old PC to this one so I can copy DVDs. Besides this I do not forsee any upgrades, might get greedy if a great GPU deal swings by. So my qn is should I buy this 380W or a more powerful 750W -

Don't bother - I just figured I will try this first - I forgot that my old desktop was connected using VGA cable and in excitement of getting my new Desktop powered up I used the same but the new HPE-210F did not have a direct VGA but a DVI so I used a VGA to DVI Adapter. I am going to remove the adapter and use the DVI cable for a direct connection and will see how that works. Am curious to find out though, whats the best way to connect a full HD monitor to PC - HDMI, DVI or VGA ?
