I have a Dell Studio XPS 9100 computer with Windows 7 Prof and Speccy programs installed. If I am doing some heavy computer work such as imaging backup or file and folder backups, the Speccy program will show the approximatel temperatures:

CPU - Intel Core i7-960 (max I have noticed is 49c, normal 42 to 43)

Graphics - ATI Radeon HD 5800 (max I have noticed is 48c, normal 41 to 42)

Hard Drives (2) max I have noticed is 40c and 39c)

Motherboard - (max I have noticed is 44c)

The only temperature that has me concerned is the CPU temp. Any comments and/or suggestions would be very much appreciated, Sam.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about.

If CPU temps got into the high 60s, I'd raise an eyebrow maybe. The CPU will throttle itself back somewhere in the 90s should it get that hot.

Your CPU temperature range is fine.Mine is always between 40-50 degree Celsius. If you do CPU intensive task or gaming temperature might shoot up to 60 degrees.
Always remember to keep your laptop and external grills to be dust free.
It is advisable to clean laptop fan once every one or two years to clean any accumulated dust but bear in mind laptop case should only be opened if you are confident enough or by trained technician.

Dreamer, many thanks for the information. I should have mentioned that my computer is a desktip and I clean it out for dust on an annual basis. Sam.

That temperatures also depends from your room temp. Anyway that temps are a bit higher that normal(if they are on idle), but they are good.
Don't forget that you can buy a new cpu cooler, if you want to cool down that temps. ;)

Here are some cpu coolers for LGA 1366: Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, lga 1366 cooler
