Internet Connection Off and On Constantly

In the last few weeks I've begun to notice repetitive notices in lower right hand corner that "Internet Disconnected" and a minute or so later "Internet now Connected". This happens often to me when I'm sitting here working on my computer. It keeps happening all the time that I'm using the computer. I have no idea if it happens any other time. I have an Ethernet wired-lan off a switch and Cisco Router 1200 with a wireless LAN also. Usually there is only one other wired node, a computer, on the wired LAN But there are other wireless nodes on the router but few active at the moment. The node most active is a wireless Canon Multi-function printer but tablets and other stuff can be on and off at any time. I've no correlation between other wired and wireless devices and this phenomenon. I'm running Win 7 64 bit in a quad core 8gb mem machine. Many thanks for advice.

Hi,
I'd check your network card properties for options that say allow this computer to turn off the device to save power.
Also check your Ethernet cable for slack in the connection, maybe replace it.
Do you get any other messages, like IP conflict etc?

Thanks symp for the reply! No, I don't get any other messages. it's strange because my wife's computer is opposite mine and she's on line often with no such messages popping up on her machine. So it's only on mine that it's happening. I'll do as you suggest and check my local network card. But the cabling has been installed for years with no movement or changes. Just got he message: "This computer has now been connected to the internet". I'm puzzled.

symp, I found that location you mentioned in Device Manager and unchecked it so the computer will not turn off the network card to save power. However, that didn't make any difference. I just got the message "This computer is now disconnected from the Internet". I remain puzzled but I'll have to check all my network settings again.
