I've just done a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and something odd is going on with Google search pages in IE10.

For the first few hours the pages look normal - as in the 1st pic below. After a while they look like the second pic below. The links aren't underlined and the line spacing has changed. Also, the accelerator button has disappeared.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've reinstalled Windows three times now and the same thing keeps happening every time.

Btw, if you look at the 6th post in the above link - he says they haven't changed the layout of news search. He's right, they haven't. All news search results are in the normal style with underlined links and the correct line spacing and font.

Hi,
Kind of funny if you use Browser mode of ie8 everything looks as it should but ie10 comp-view doesn't do anything differently :)
F12 key/ browser mode.
Cheers.

How did you get IE8 browser mode?

With IE10 - I've noticed it goes back to the 'proper' Google search layout if I F12>Disable>Script (but there's a redirect notice before it comes up).

Ah, I should have spotted that before.

Yes, using IE8 browser mode works here too - but I have to F12>Browser Mode>Select F8 for every page. Is there a way of making IE10 open in F8 mode by default?

As long as you have pages open in the same window and not another tab the setting will stick,
But your asking allot just for Google search with underlines,
Technically if you have issues with websites adding them to your compatibility view list should do the same thing/ Alt+TB and add.
Menubar/ Tools/ Compatibility view settings/ Add button If your already on the site.
You can use F12 and Alt+B8 which will do it a little faster.
Cheers.

You've confused me there. Do you mean add every Google search results page to the compatibility view list? I don't understand how that would do the same as F12>Disable>Script.

Hi no I was saying in normal circumstances adding the problem site to the comp-view list would usually do it,
Google has obviously changed something and other browsers are seeing the same issue,
So yours might be the best solution,
Cheers.
FWIW ie11 shows the same issue.
