Internet/router issues

My Netgear router has a genie website thing where it tells you the status of the internet and such. For some reason it will say that the internet is on and working when it doesn't actually work.

What do you mean it doesn`t work, how are you typing to us ?

Is the tv cable plugged into the router or however you receive the internet ?

No I'm using my phone's internet to post, and no it isn't.

And who is providing the phones internet, does it have it`s own plan ?
