If your using Wifi, I would check your advanced power options. The Wifi maybe set to powersave mode when using the battery.

type "power options" on start menu..

under Power saving mood,

Set your Wireless Adapter Power to Maximum..
1_m.jpg
as solid snake showed before.

remember,, when your Laptop is connected to Power, Set it to High Performance Mood
and while Power is off, Set it to Power Savings mood
these mood should be changed automatically.

Youre Windows Update must set you to a Default settings.. thats why it happened. have a nice computing ... :D
