Or that the company has not hired someone to create a bunch of accounts to go out and promote the software?

No.

Take those ratings with a HUGE mountain of salt.

Win 7 does not need a Third Party Defrag no matter what you anyone thinks.
Some opinions really are wrong.

I agree. Have put CCleaner and Auslogics Defraggers on hundreds of installs representing thousands of uses without a single issue.

Have not tried Piriform's Defraggler but since they make the most respected app in all of tech CCleaner it is likely every bit as good as Auslogics which to me is perfect.

It sounds like the OP did something deeper than defragging, like System Files relocation which PerfectDisk does Offline. I hope it didn't mess up his HD, but I would run maker's HD diagnostics CD followed by Disk Check to be sure.

Greg- I know that it won't surprise you at all to hear that in my experience Defraggler is has solid as rock performance just like CCleaner does and like I said before it has the best file and folder information I've seen in Defragmentation software.

I apologize for resurrecting this more than 90-days-dead-thread. While I'm confident the information provided in this reply is important enough to include, is directly related to and supplies a plausible motive for an interested party to do precisely what Tepid suggests as a possibility, I did not feel it warranted a thread of it's own.

Just an update: Since this thread was active I've switched to Defraggler and am amazed at the defragging power compared to my old fave, Auslogics.

Auslogics would typically find 2-3% on systems which Defraggler found 19%-56% fragmentation.

I just solved a 2 minute boot revealed by boot trace to be caused by heavy file and free-space fragmentation using Defraggler file and free space defragger.

Thanks for tipping me to this Maxxwire and others. It is a big improvement.

I especially like how Defraggler x64 lists the individual folders that need defragmentation, the number of fragments they each contain and allows you to choose which of those folders to defragment. Plus its really fast!
