Solved iP 4000 tells me printhead is not installed

My trusty Canon iP4000 is sick. I've removed the print-head and cleaned the ink jets, dried out and put back but am still getting the message. Grateful for any ideas including (as last resort) similar Canon that will use up my stock of BC1... carts. I just need a simple colour printer for occasional pix that will use generic single carts

Some inkjet printers use a carrier, a removable part that holds the ink cartridges, probably is where the problem is.

Thanks Berton, but have already taken this out, cleaned jets with warm water and dried, still gave me that message. Have just tried to turn on this morning to see if any-thing was different , and it certainly was, there is now no green indicator coming on and the machine seems to be dead.

OK. it seems the power pack is dead. Have removed and am looking for a replacement, they are all in USA !
Any clues where I might find one or a scrap printer with one in UK. Ref no is K30235. (230-24v)

OOOPS, have taken the power pack out and "jiggled" the connector, it now works again !
As stated previously have cleaned print head in warm water to no avail. Have now cleaned each jet and the connector board with iso. After re-assembly am back to the original message to install the proper print-head. I appear to be flogging a dead horse ? ? ?

It does sound like you've done all you can with it. Usually any printer having problems and is out of warranty is not cost-effective to send to a service center for repair since one can get new printers fairly cheaply, some in the US go for as little as $59USD. Shipping a printer one way could run as high as $35USD.
