ipconfig /renew error message

I yet again got the grudged "dns server isn't responding" error message and I tried the ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew that was mentioned in my other thread. But every time I try to do the ipconfig /renew, I always get a weird error message and still no internet.

the error message says:

An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : The name specified in the network control block (NCB) is in use on a remote adapter. The NCB is the data.

I Googled the message but only unresolved/unanswered results showed up in Google.

Basically it means that IP is issued by dhcp to another PC it can be you have the number of leases set low on the router and you have exceeded it. Rebooting the router should fix it and check the lease range on the router. If you have two dhcp routers you could get the problem

I had the same today... Bizarre issue...

In my situation the only possible way to resolve this was to shut down the entire network (router, laptops, PCs, end devices like NAS, Android TV box, mobile phones etc) and then turning them on one by one starting from the router.

I think it has something to do with my last messing with static arp entries, although I thought all was refreshed and running well... until today morning when out of a sudden I got "The name specified in the network control block (NCB) is in use on a remote adapter. The NCB is the data." on all WiFi devices in my network (for some reason cable connection to one of the PCs was working fine).

Anyway, hope this helps someone.
