iPod "driver" problems

Yes, it still doesn't work. It tried to install the "recovery mode" drivers, but failed to do so.

I just told you, haha. :) It tries to install the drivers but fails.

And it still doesn't show up in iTunes.

Hmmm. Try plugging in the iPod while its OFF. Then, press and hold the home button until it drops into recovery mode. Have iTunes up the whole time, and it should sense it.

I found the problem. It requires a driver, USBAAPL.SYS, to be used by the device. Which under driver details, it is not listed. So I SOMEHOW need to get it to install that driver for my iPod. But how... it keeps recognizing it as an MTP device. And I can't get it to use the driver it NEEDS as the driver it needs. It keeps thinking the MTP driver is the newest and best. Arghhhh Windowssss, why hast thou forsaken me? And ideas about that one?

Let it install the driver, then download and located the inf file for the new driver. Then open device manager and uninstall the old driver and install the new one.

I did. It keeps recognizing it as an MTP USB device, not as the iPod that it is.

And update. I just tried it out on my laptop, works perfectly. It recognizes it under USB controllers as the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. It uses the two usbaapl.sys and usbaaplrc.sys drivers as it should. So it's Windows 7's fault. =,

Lets try this then:
Open command prompt (run it as admin) and type:
Code:
sfc /scannow

That's what I have been TRYING to do. "And I can't get it to use the driver it NEEDS as the driver it needs. It keeps thinking the MTP driver is the newest and best." It won't let me.

It pains me to say this but, did you ever consider calling Apple for support?

I haven't read the thread, but seeing as help appeared to be needed (and I'm watching something online) I figured I'd throw that out there, they are actually pretty helpful in terms of customer support.

While we, as a forum and community are great with solving things. There are somethings that require someone with more knowledge (in this case, an Apple Tech Agent).

Dealing with ANOTHER forum? Pleaaasee. :) I can wait until tomorrow. I'd like to get it solved here, if not, then tomorrow. I realllly can't be navigating thousands of forums at a time, ya know? But thank you everyone for your help. Perhaps someone will stumble across this before tomorrow to give me the answer.

Okay I am tired and lazy, but what I gather so far is Windows refuses to load a proper drivers for iPod correct? Try reinstalling Windows and that should likely fix the problem.

I'm going back to my show now and then sleeping.. busy tomorrow
