Solved Irritating panel in Outlook

Hi,
Nothing that I've used makes outlook.com look better mate except possibly yahoo.com

Can't say I have ever used Yahoo Mike but I know my brother does as he likes it better than WLM so will have a look. But am getting used to Outlook although it is slow like having to login each time I hit the favourite in that bar.
I think what I find what is annoying is that particularly on a laptop which I tend to use away from home that ad panel takes up so much room from the displayed message and consequently the reply window.

If any of my friends..... are sending spam they are usually using Yahoo mail
I usually block or report spam on them
Yahoo was not a recommendation
I was stating yahoo makes outlook.com look good

If you are not happy with the interface presented by your eMail provider, the best and easiest way to cure this is to use a local email Client. I have Thunderbird set up with the extras I need - calendar, Task Manager Etc including look and feel mods, so whatever email provider I am reading mail from (I have email accounts with many names and providers both public and private) they always appear the same.

I have outlook 2016 available but prefer the customisable interface of Thunderbird.

I also have my main gMail account "collect" mail from various other providers and present it to me sorted using rules with a Priority inbox in addition to the regular inbox so I can read my mail even if I only have access from my phone or tablet. I can receive in excess of 3500 emails a month, and I read everything important or urgent without any issues ( some of my less important mails are automatically filed away for reading when I have the time or need to do research)

There are many different desktop mail clients that can handle IMAP or the obsolescent POP3 protocols - a little research is bound to find something that suits you either a Desktop client or an online client that allows remote mail collection from other providers servers (eg gMail )

Yep Nigel I also have TB set up to look like WLM though it is rather bland looking compared to WLM thing is getting ones head around the ways you set the GUI up for the different servers ie blocking senders which I must admit was a waste of time in WLM because it was being swamped with singles rubbish and it didn't matter what or how I blocked a sender though their address or domain they still kept on coming - the blocked list must have been kilometres long LOL!!.

I think I may have to do the blocking with my AV in future but thankfully so far not that many are persistently coming through. .

This is all I'm saying gmail is good and much better than outlook.com

I don't mind office outlook I rarely use it lately but for sending proposals/ Invoices.

What I'm saying is that if you like gmail's interface you can have it collect your outlook mail and your gmail and a number of other mail severs and display them together in Gmails interface, allow you to reply to them and generally manage them

you can keep your outlook.com account and never see the outlook.com page ever again

I agree completely
outlook/ hotmail in my case is just a throw down account mainly now for nothing but junk so I would not want to retrieve or access that junk from gmail

gmail is a primary and I've had it just as long as my only hotmail account and I've closed 2 other accounts one other hotmail and another outlook.com when MS went crazy on it's "call use overprotective" stuff and kept locking me out for using a correct password

I just don't use hotmail anymore for the same reason of this question plus a few others.
