Is 7's firewall enough?

I just installed the Comodo Free Firewall. So far so good. And I passed the GRC leak test.

I use Comodo mainly to monitor outgoing. I am behind a hardware firewall also.

I have turned off windows firewall and tested with GRC Shields Up. True Stealth was the result. I am behind a router firewall. I have been doing a lot of reading on this software outbound firewall subject. Most of what I have been reading I agree with. In most cases, if you are alerted with a trojan, virus etc, outbound, it's too late. Your inbound protection didn't do it's job. I know that you can download bad things or visit dangerous sites. I would just say this. Don't. That's just my opinion. Thanks,

I agree with you. However, blocking outgoing can keep a Trojan from phoning home, spamming, and infecting more computers.

I know. That's the only part that bugs me. I read a lot of Leo Notenboom's stuff. In fact, I get his newsletter. He notes that a lot of the outbound popups are false. And we all know that some users just hit allow to get on with what they are doing. I was one. Thanks John. I am familiar with Leo Notenbloom. On our two systems, anything I have not allowed creates a popup. If it is legitimate, I let it go on its merry way and I don't see the popup again. There are a couple of things that I want to see the popup everytime.

I've been reading this post so I thought I'd try GRC out. I'm behind a firewall router and I was True Stealth for the shields up test. Besides the router firewall I'm using Windows 7 firewall default settings. I ran the leak test and before it could start it's test ThreatFire grabbed a hold of it and stopped it. I allowed it to proceed in ThreatFire and of course I failed the leak test for out bound. I've been really pleased with ThreatFire.

I have never tried ThreatFire. Comodo stopped the leak test for me. Looks like you have your hardware firewall configured correctly.

Does Threatfire use a lot of resources, and play nice with other software? I disabled the windows firewall and ran the shields up test. It showed all ports were closed and one was stealthed. I have also read that this is just as good if not better as if your are stealthed the hackers don't know you exist. Their automatic bots or whatever they are just keep on trying. If ports are closed, they see that and quit. Something like that. I think I read that in something by Leo Notenboom. I know it's just one person's opinion. I turned the firewall back on because I didn't notice a big change in speed and I got tired of the warnings from Windows
