Is it possible to disable javascript slideshow animations in Firefox?

A lot of news sites have delayed slide shows. It really irritates me when I'm reading a headline and it disappears. Is there a way to block this? Here's an example.

That should easily be taken care of with a plugin/add-on I'd use either
NoScript or YesScript
You can use those to prevent the use of JavaScripts on pages where you don't want them.

Come to think of it: that might remove the slide show altogether Not sure about that I use google now so I can't test it.

I just saw it: there is kind of like a pause button at the bottom of each slide frame ( the 2 squares between the arrows next to the "4 of 8" thingy

I've looked at both of those, but could not see how to disable the animated slide shows only, which would be nice because many sites require javascript for other things. Do you know if that is that possible with either extension?

I always used Nocript on FF and when I came to a site where I didn't want JavaScript executed, I clicked on the Icon (the blue snake in the red circle) to reach a context menu where you could block the execution of said scripts and that's on a site base.
(Left or right click I don't remember)
From what I've read bout Yesscript it seems as if you could "black list" certain pages there

I found the solution. The RightToClick extension does this easily -- just check "disable page timers" and nothing else. The other Javascript on the page will still work, so this will work with most sites.

This may have the additional benefit of blocking the timed popups that gray out the page you're trying to read.
