I am running 64bit win7 with SP1 and all updates. I have an AXIS network IP camera that I use to check on my bedridden mom. When running IE9 I could use the 32bit version and everything worked fine but it would not work on the 64bit version.

I upgraded to IE10 which automatically installed the 64bit version. Now, the video works fine but there is no sound. I am hoping there is a way to force IE10 to run in 32bit mode so the sound will work again but I can't figure out how to make it run in 32bit mode...is this even possible and if so, how do I do it?

Thanks for any feedback

If you navigate "C" to the Program Files (x86) folder in there is a folder "Internet Explorer" Open that and locate the iexplore.exe file, right click on it, choose "Send to" choose Desktop shortcut" and you will have your shortcup to the IE 10 32 bit version!

Thanks but that no longer starts the 32bit version which, if I'm not mistaken, was removed when IE10 installed. I hope MS didn't assume nobody with 64bit win7 would never need to run 32bit IE again...

From my understanding,

You may have been asked to D/L'd the 64bit version, that was only to match the OS.

If you do not have "Enable Enhanced Protection Mode" checked in Tools >Internet Options >Advanced tab, you are running 32bit.

Enhanced Protected Mode - IEBlog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Check the Browsers and Mail forum, there are a couple of threads there.

EDIT:

These two are the most lively:

http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...40-platform-update-kb2670838-windows-7-a.html

Mitchell, I thought and did the same thing, but when I checked the "About Internet Explorer" in IE10's Help menu it never showed a difference in versions like IE9 and its successors did.

Also, if you do not want IE10 to automatically update itself uncheck the box "Install new versions automatically" in the "About Internet Explorer" window.

If you have 64-bit Windows 7, then you should use the 64-bit installer for IE10.

If you have 32-bit Windows 7, then you should use the 32-bit installer for IE10.

In a 64-bit Windows 7 and 64-bit Windows 8, IE10 has both 32-bit IE10 and 64-bit IE10 all in one now.

IE10 runs 32-bit tabs by default.

If the user turns on “Enhanced Protected Mode”, they will have 64-bit tabs by default for IE 10. The tutorial below can give you more details.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorial...10-enable-32-bit-64-bit-ie10-windows-7-a.html

None of this applies to 32-bit Windows 7 and Windows 8. IE10 in them is only 32-bit.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

Inview of the importance of the use of the AXIS network IP camera would it not make sense to uninstall IE10 and go back to IE9 that worked OK. Surely it is more important to get this unit working properly than flap about trying to get IE10 to work in 32 bit mode. If the lady needs help she won't care if the message gets through with 1 or a million bits!

Based on what is being said and other articles I've seen it's beginning to look more like some sort of IE10/AXIS compatibility issue rather than anything else...I'm checking with AXIS to see what they might have to say.

I agree that the important thing is to be able to monitor my mom but the sound is not a requirement for that...the video is all that is required and that does work. I just want the sound to work because it did before the upgrade to IE10 and I'm not sure it is worth going back to IE9 for that...yet.

Thanks again for the help

IE 32bit Windows 10

I too had this issue with compatibility, took awhile to find a solution. Another one would be preferred, but this does work. I was able to get 32 bit IE to launch by creating a new user profile and then immediately going to the Program Files(x86) folder and launching IE from there. It is important that you open from the 32 bit folder first. If 64 bit version is launched before then it will default to 64 bit. If anyone knows why this is and knows a way to get an existing profile to launch it would be much appreciated.

You should ask your question in the W10 forum:
Windows 10 Forums

Using IE10 or IE11 on W7 64bit, the parent IE process should be 64bit. That parent then starts 32bit children. If 64bit children are desired, see my old post and videos - then the tutorial above that post.

If you force IE10 32bit or IE11 32bit to start as the parent (first instance), that 32bit parent just starts a 64bit parent and then the 32bit parent ends. I would think that the same would be true for W10 - but I don't care enough to fire up my W10 Virtual Machine to test :-)
